If a bilingual brain is a better brain, why are my language learners struggling? Language learners can often struggle in school and the underlying causes of this are not always evident to teachers. Neuroscience research is revealing several hidden processes that can create learning difficulties. These hidden difficulties include cognitive load, difficulty hearing and pronouncing sounds, working memory issues, and the effects of anxiety, stress, trauma, and poverty. Learn from an Educational Neuroscientist the science and strategies that can enhance learning. While language learners benefit strongly, this information applies to all struggling learners. Come prepared to laugh, learn, and engage and leave with science-based strategies for enhancing and energizing instruction.
